Understand the battery-life target
Electronic Nameplate’s specification targets up to approximately two years between battery changes under a defined normal-use profile. This is a design target subject to validation, not a measured guarantee for every installation.
The service interval depends on display updates, radio traffic, optional LEDs, temperature and battery capacity. A calendar layout with regular changes and frequent walk-up bookings can have a different duty cycle from a mostly static office nameplate.
Choose a layout that fits the task and the power budget
Make the current status readable without a continuous animation. Prefer a scheduled booking time to a constantly refreshed countdown. An optional indicator can help identify a plate or show status, but its operating pattern also belongs in the battery assessment.
The three physical buttons support application-dependent actions. If people frequently reserve rooms at the door, include those interactions in a representative pilot rather than testing only passive display updates.

No display cable does not mean no infrastructure
The base stations need appropriate power and connectivity, and the control software needs an operating environment. Calendar integration also needs authorized access to the room calendars. These requirements belong in the installation quote.
Replaceable batteries let a company maintain plates without replacing the entire unit. Plan access to the battery compartment when selecting mounts, and maintain a device-to-location inventory so servicing the correct sign is straightforward.

Does a visible image prove the battery is working?
No. A retained e-ink image can remain visible after the electronics stop updating. Check update status, rather than treating visible content as proof of a live connection.
Is a two-year interval guaranteed?
No. It is the current design target, and the installation’s use profile and validation results determine the appropriate maintenance plan.
