Electronic vs traditional office nameplates

Traditional office nameplates are simple and familiar. Electronic nameplates become useful when names, teams or room uses change often enough that printing and replacing inserts becomes a recurring task.

PERIODIC INFORMATION

Prioritize readability, a clear update workflow and suitable maintenance.

INSTALLATION DECISIONS

Compare the complete system and operating work, alongside the screen.

A decision framework, rather than a performance claim about any individual device.

Look at the update workflow

With printed signs, a change usually means preparing a new insert, printing it and taking it to the correct door. That may be entirely appropriate for a small site where occupants rarely move.

An electronic system moves the update into central software. It can reduce repeated visits for content changes, but it adds device management, infrastructure and battery maintenance. The useful comparison is the work involved across the year, not only the price of the sign.

Calendar information changes the purpose of the sign

A printed nameplate identifies a room or person. A calendar-connected sign can also communicate reservation information. That is a different application rather than simply an electronic version of the same printed label.

Keep stable identity and changing booking information visually separate. A readable room name should remain easy to find even when the sign also shows a status or next reservation. Editable templates can help maintain that consistency.

Make a small, representative trial

Choose a mix of stable personal offices and changing shared spaces. Record how content is updated today and who owns those updates. Then test whether the proposed software and templates make the actual work easier.

Electronic Nameplate’s Basic Office package is listed at €949 for five office plates, one base station and control software pages, with company sales only. Confirm the exact display choice, VAT treatment, installation, integration and licence scope in the quote.

Questions, answered.

Should every printed sign be replaced?

Not necessarily. Stable labels may be well served by print, while frequently changed or calendar-driven signs can benefit from central updates.
